TYPICAL IVF JOURNEY

At Dr. Varshha Patil's clinic, we understand that every infertility journey is unique. Here's an overview of the typical IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) infertility journey at our clinic, starting with the initial consultation and leading up to the pregnancy confirmation

CONSULTATION AND BASELINE INVESTIGATIONS

Your journey begins with a consultation with Dr. Varshha Patil or one of our experienced fertility specialists.
Baseline investigations are conducted to assess your fertility, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests. These tests provide a baseline for planning your personalized treatment

DISCUSSION OF INVESTIGATION RESULTS

Dr. Patil discusses the results of your investigations with you, explaining what they mean and how they relate to your fertility. During this consultation, Dr. Patil proposes a tailored treatment plan, taking into account your specific circumstances, potential risks, and side effects associated with the proposed treatments.

STIMULATION MEDICATIONS

If IVF is recommended, you will begin a course of stimulation medications. These medications aim to stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs for collection.
Throughout the stimulation process, your ovarian response is closely monitored through regular scans and blood tests, typically every 2-3 days. This monitoring helps adjust your treatment as needed

TRIGGER INJECTION

When your follicles (egg-containing sacs in the ovaries) are ready, the stimulation period concludes with a "trigger injection." This injection matures the eggs, preparing them for collection.

EGG RETRIEVAL AND SPERM SAMPLE

Egg collection takes place approximately 35-37 hours after the trigger injection. The procedure is performed while you are under sedation to ensure your comfort. On the same day, your partner is required to provide a fresh semen sample for fertilization

FERTILIZATION AND EMBRYO DEVELOPMENT

Our skilled embryologists inseminate your eggs with your partner's sperm, and the embryos are placed in our incubator to facilitate fertilization.
The developing embryos are closely monitored to ensure fertilization and assess their growth and quality.

EMBRYO TRANSFER

The best-quality embryos are selected for transfer back into your uterus. This procedure is typically similar to a routine smear test and is done with care.
Any additional good-quality embryos that are not transferred can be cryopreserved (frozen) for future use.
Normally, one or two embryos are transferred into your uterus.

THE TWO-WEEK WAIT

After the embryo transfer, you enter a two-week waiting period before performing a pregnancy test.
During this time, it's essential to take care of your physical and emotional well-being

PREGNANCY SCANS

If the pregnancy test is positive, you'll undergo pregnancy scans at our clinic. The first scan typically occurs two weeks after a confirmed positive test, with another follow-up scan four weeks later. If everything looks healthy and promising, we will refer you to your own GP for ongoing antenatal care.
